In 1896, the merchant E.H.C. Michahelles founded a trading house in Hamburg. This was the beginning of today’s MILES. Although the actual entry into the textile industry came later, even today the connection between the two companies remains recognizable as the first two and last three letters of the founder Michahelles gave Miles their name.
Founded in 1957, Miles started in the international metering trade and began importing finished products from Japan after three years. Since 2008, Miles has been part of LF Europe and the wider globally active Li & Fung Group, one of the world’s largest commercial groups based in Hong Kong.
As a result, Miles now has access to an international network of nearly 12,000 suppliers and locations in 40 countries.
